When innovation meets sustainability, the results can be game-changing. That’s exactly what happened when Inission, a third-party logistics provider, partnered with Boxon to develop a more sustainable packaging solution for Nofence – the company behind the world’s first virtual fence for livestock.
Nofence’s revolutionary solar-powered GPS collars help farmers manage cattle without physical fences. But their packaging needed to align with their commitment to sustainability. And that’s where Boxon stepped in.
Together with Inission, we designed an eco-friendly packaging portfolio for Nofence’s collars, batteries and chargers – available in both single and multi-packs. Previously made from plastic, the new packaging now features corrugated cardboard inserts, allowing for a single unit recycling.
By optimizing the box design for better pallet efficiency, we increased the number of units per shipment, reducing both transport costs and environmental impact. While the full CO2 savings are still being calculated, switching from plastic to corrugated board alone reduces emissions by approximately 90%.
Jonas Lindgren, Packaging Engineer at Boxon, explains how the solution took shape:
"It’s always exciting to take a holistic approach to packaging, optimizing for sustainability, protection and efficiency. Given the long geographic distances, we held digital meetings with Inission’s packing team, allowing for real-time feedback on which solutions worked best."
By combining innovation with responsible packaging, Nofence now delivers their groundbreaking technology in a way that’s just as forward-thinking as their product itself.
